As I step into this new year, one of my biggest challenges has raised its hand boldly like an over-eager student: education after 40.
Let’s be honest — going back to school in your 40s is not beans. The brain now needs Wi-Fi, a password, and sometimes two cups of coffee before it agrees to download information. I open a textbook, and my eyes say, “We can do this,” but my knees say, “Please, let’s lie down first.”
Yet here I am — learning, stretching, growing.
I remind myself daily:
– I am not behind
– I am not too old
– I am simply on my timeline
Education at this age comes with superpowers — patience, life experience, and the confidence to ask questions without shame. The only problem is remembering where I kept the notebook I used to write the answers!
So if you’re over 40 and chasing a degree, a certification, or simply new knowledge, walk proudly. We may study slowly, but we understand deeply. And we don’t just want to pass — we want to become better versions of ourselves.
Here’s to learning, laughing at ourselves, and showing life that 40+ is not a limitation — it’s a premium version.
