What makes a good leader?

A good leader, in my humble opinion, is not someone who barks orders like a broken megaphone 📢 or walks around with a permanent “Do Not Disturb” sign on their face. No. A good leader has compassion, empathy, and—most importantly—a human heart.

I want a leader who remembers that people are not robots powered by coffee and deadlines. Someone who understands that life happens: kids get sick, alarms don’t go off, and sometimes people are just trying their best while holding it together with prayer and grace.

A good leader teaches by example. They don’t just say, “Do as I say,” but rather, “Watch how I do it.” They show integrity when no one is watching, humility when they’re wrong, and kindness when it would be easier to be harsh.

The best leaders inspire, not intimidate. They lift others up instead of standing on them. They listen more than they talk (yes, even when they already have the answer 😄). And they create an environment where people grow—not one where everyone is counting down to quitting time or retirement.

At the end of the day, titles don’t make leaders—character does. Give me a leader with compassion, wisdom, and a heart that beats for people, and I’ll follow happily… even without a motivational poster on the wall.

Peace!

Quote of the week

"People ask me what I do in the winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
