So Close… Yet So Far 😄

There are some places that live so close to us, they almost feel like background noise. You assume you’ll get to them one day—just not today. For me, living in Virginia comes with two very big, very ironic confessions.
First confession: as close as Virginia is to Washington, DC, I have still not visited the White House or properly explored its surroundings. Yes, that White House. The one tourists travel across oceans to see. Meanwhile, I’m nearby saying, “I’ll go someday,” like it’s a neighbor I can pop in on anytime. Somehow, that “someday” keeps rescheduling itself.

Second confession—and this one hurts a little—despite my love for Mickey Mouse (we go way back in my imagination), I have never been to Walt Disney World. Not once. I know. Shocking. I cheer for Disney magic from afar like a loyal fan who never buys concert tickets. Life, responsibilities, and “one day” have been very busy standing in the way.

I guess this post is a reminder that sometimes the biggest adventures aren’t far away—they’re just waiting for us to stop postponing joy. Maybe it’s time to finally say yes to history, magic, and a few overdue selfies.
After all… if people can travel thousands of miles to see these places, surely I can manage a short trip from home. 😉
What about you—what amazing place near you is still patiently waiting on your “someday”?
Peace!
