Have I ever unintentionally broken the law?
Let me just clear my throat first. 😅
Now, I am not talking about anything dramatic that would land me on a crime documentary. No sir. No ma’am. I’m talking about those small, innocent, “I honestly didn’t know!” moments.
Like driving 5… okay maybe 10… miles over the speed limit because the road was empty and your favorite worship song was playing. Or rolling through a stop sign because you thought you stopped long enough. Or that time you parked “just for five minutes” in a spot that clearly said No Parking Anytime.
In those moments, you don’t feel like a criminal. You feel like a tired adult trying to survive life.
Sometimes breaking the law unintentionally isn’t about rebellion — it’s about distraction. Life is busy. We are juggling work, school, children, responsibilities, faith, deadlines, and dinner. Our brains are multitasking machines… and sometimes one detail slips.
But here’s the deeper reflection.
Those small mistakes remind me how human I am. They remind me that good intentions do not automatically equal perfect actions. And honestly? That realization humbles me.
It also makes me grateful for grace.
Because just like traffic laws, life has moral laws, spiritual principles, and boundaries. And if we’re being honest, we’ve all crossed lines — knowingly or unknowingly. Yet, mercy meets us there.
Instead of shame, we learn.
Instead of panic, we adjust.
Instead of pretending, we grow.
Unintentional mistakes teach awareness. They make us slow down. They make us pay attention. They make us better.
So yes, I may have unintentionally broken a minor law once in my lifetime (Lord, forgive the speedometer incidents 🙈). But this moments didn’t define me — they refined me.
And next time I see that speed limit sign?
I promise to at least try.
Peace!
